That certainly made making this interview a little bit more interesting. The hardest part about asking about the "Before Montevallo" questions was because I already know about her entire process. New questions that emerged was thinking how close people got from not going to the University of Montevallo. The only reason why my sister deciding to go to the University of Montevallo was because I was also going to the same school, so I want to add that to my schedule TNotes: The Theory on why the interview didn't go so well was it's my sister. I knew pretty much everything about her. Knowing every about a person and pretty much having all the answers made it harder to get guanine answers from the person. Even though I got pretty good answers from her about some things like how her first day was because I didn't see her a lot that day, I also didn't to ask many questions because she had class. PNotes: It was during the same time of the interview number one so all of the same issues I had In that interview also trickled down to this interview. Also, Asha (my sister) kept trying to make me laugh and therefore I wasn't 100% focused on the interview than I probably should have been. SNotes: She went an Auburn High School, which is a large school in which about 60% of students end up going to college. There was no effect on her college decision on anyone expect her brother. U.M was her first choice even though she did consider Jacksonville State and North Alabama. She found out about Montevallo through another school. She realized Montevallo was her home when she went on the Campus Tour. The main thing she was afraid about the going to Montevallo is that she is a very dependent person. MN: This interview was not as great as the first one, She just didn't seem that interested at all in the process and only did it because I asked her to and she didn’t want to go back on the offer. I tried to do the I can from what I was given, but it was what I expected my interviews to be at this point TN: Even though the interview was uneventful, this was the first time that I interviewed someone who had taken a gap year right after high school. So I was able to ask new questions based off of that tidbit of information. The theory on why I think the interview did not go as well as I planned was because I think I waited to long to actually commence the interview than when I asked it, because there was about an one week span in-between, and I think that had something to do with killing the buzz for the interview. PN: As I stated before, the interview did not go as well as I thought. Another reason why is that this interview may have taken place at the worst time possible, right in the middle of rush hour at Moes, so it was loud and crowded and my hearing is already really, really bad at times. I was also broke and people were eating Moes around me so that was hella distracting and made it really hard to focus on the interview. I also was getting over a really bad cold so that messed with me as well. SN: She is from a school called SMICA near Hoover, Alabama. It was one of the smallest schools in the area with her graduating class only being 30 people, and everyone went to college. She took a year off school and worked at Chick Fl La to figure out what she wanted to do with their life. Her first choice was to go to Auburn, but she settled on Montevallo because of money. Her mom (who is an alumni) was excited about her daughter going to Montevallo but her dad was not. Her major is Early Education. Her fear was failing out of school and having to go back and work at her old job. Her first day here was overwhelming but also calming as well. She is not involved on campus due to her class load, but she does consider herself a gold. Her favorite non-major classes with Psychology and Political Science. She thinks she's going to stay here all 4 years and she is excited to see what the future as in store.
